Language Acquisition

Gracie continues to be Amazing Gracie as her ability to understand what we say to her in English and her ability to communicate with us is the same if not better than our typical kids when they were adopted.
She is putting 2-3 words together more often than not!

One thing that she does that our others did not do is that she will use body language and gestures when we don't understand her. She is able to get all her needs met either with words, body language, gestures or just her pure cuteness!

Some of the new words or phrases she is independently saying on her own without modeling as she repeats anything modeled for her.

  • I love you mama!  (My favorite)
  • Good morning mama! (or baba or Lulu or whoever she is addressing)

It's A Whole New World!!!

Gracie got her new glasses today. Her words out of her mouth as soon as the optometrist put them on was  "WOW!"

The eye doctor said that she could only see clearly about 5 inches from her face. Her vision is 20/450! I think she looks older in her glasses. She has done a great job keeping them on today. You can also see in the above picture how much straighter her two front teeth are getting now that they pulled out the two teeth next to them (that little escapade only took 4 adults to hold her down!). Little by little she is getting all fixed up! She is my beautiful girl!!!
This is her studious look!!
So cute!!!
Update on eye surgeries: She will not need the tear duct surgery, but will need the eye lid surgery as her droopy eye lid does affect her vision. She will see the eye lid surgeon on March 31st. We would love to coordinate that with the tonsils and adenoids if possible.

Gracie Reading!!!!!

video
(Don't forget to mute playlist at bottom of blog)

She is so stinkin' cute and smart.
Truthfully, I can hardly stand it!
I want to gobble her up morning, noon and night!
At the end of the video, you can see how she even looks at the pile when I  accidentally ask her to give me Gracie instead of Mama! She knew Gracie was in the pile already!
Silly Mama! Smartie Gracie!!

than lying next to Gracie as she falls asleep rubbing her forehead and hair while whispering, "I love you so much Gracie" to have her whisper back, "I love you so much mama!"
