She Just Makes Me Smile

I go to sleep with tears of joy and pure humbleness before my Father. Truly, my friends, adoption is a gift from above. Only He can orchestrate such a perfect fit for each family. This precious treasure that I have in my arms right now breaks my heart for what breaks His even more. For those of you who think you could never do this, you have no idea the joy that you are missing out on!!!

Adopting Gracie Mae is definitely one of the happiest times in my life! All fears of being here alone have been masked by her joy and the love we have found in one another. Can she do it? Yes, WE can!!!

When I hold her in my arms at night to fall asleep, I hear the words that were told to the American baby home director who got her two years ago, "No one will want to adopt this child." I hear those words as I am gently rubbing her face to sleep and heard myself say out loud, "Every child needs the love of a mother, especially you baby girl who is nothing but love!" I weep for her knowing that she has spent six years not knowing this love. And yet beam for her two glorious days and nights knowing what most other children rightfully take for granted.

I fall asleep with a smile on my face looking at my girl and as soon as she is up in the morning I am beaming once again! She just makes me smile!!!

All the glory be to Him for giving our family such a treasured little girl! Thank you Jesus!!!!

I'm speechless :-). I noticed her coloring, she is a very good colorer! I picture Gracie with her hair grown out, after being home with her family for a while, looking, for the most part, like every one of our baby girls that happened to be born in China. I can't wait to watch her bask in the love of her family at home, although watching her bask in the love of her mama in China is pricelss.

Hi, I found your blog from RR and wanted to thank you for blogging your journey. I'm a neighbor from Auburn, CA, hoping one day to embark on my own. Gracie seems like such an angel! My prayers go out for safe travels home... finally forever home.
God bless.

What a beautiful, loving momma you are Sally. Your words are a testament to the sometimes indescribable bond that happens in adoption.
